Suncoast Care is the community outreach arm of Suncoast Church. We are based in Currie Street in Nambour.
Our goal is to provide the neccesities people need to survive, at a cheaper price so that everyone has a fair go.
The Food Co-op service is only available to those who hold a current concession card or can prove low income status.
History of Suncoast Christian Care
We began as Global Care in Nambour in 1995, running an Op-Shop, Soup Kitchens and an Emergency Relief Agency. In November 2006, we moved into 115 Currie Street and began trading as Suncoast Christian Care. In January of 2008, we closed the Op-Shop and the Food Co-op took over the whole premises.
Today, in May 2012 we continue to run the Food Co-op which services an average of 670 customers a week, our Emergency Relief Department that helps an average of 25 people a week, our Soup Cafes that serve meals to an average of 45 people a week and our Breakfast in the Parks program that serves an average of 30 wholesome breakfasts a week. We also operate the Christmas in the Grounds feast and fun activities on Christmas Day which in 2011 saw over 150 people attend.
